Average salary to buy a home in this region

This article says the average price of a home in San Francisco is $682,410 however I think that within the city limits it is higher. My analysis of the market for Alameda shows the median home price rose from $570,000 in 2012 to $716,000 in 2013. So that puts our median home price above the average home price in this piece published in the businessinsider. Regardless that means the number are higher for an average priced home in Alameda than San Francisco. Which I don't think is accurate because they may be taking data from a larger area that may have some lower priced homes included. This article is about what it takes to buy a home in the top 25 metro areas of the U.S.

SAN FRANCISCO :You'd have to earn at least $115,510 to buy an average home.
Average home price: $682,410
Monthly mortgage payment: $2,695.23
Minimum annual salary: $115,510.06
